It's now legal.

As of Oct. 17, Canadians who want to consume cannabis for recreational purposes can legally do so. That overturns a ban that has existed for about 95 years.

But that doesn't mean you can actually buy the product at a retail store in Olds yet.

A public hearing regarding a bylaw on whether cannabis retail stores are a discretionary or permitted use is set for Oct. 22 in council chambers.

If it's fully approved, retail cannabis stores will be able to be open in Olds after that bylaw becomes law.

Rules regarding cannabis are also expected to come up for discussion this week in Bowden.
