Public hearings April 28 in Olds for industrial, residential rezoning

Public given chance to weigh in on Vistas residential development proposal and southeast light industrial plan

OLDS — Public hearings will be held April 28 for proposed bylaw amendments that would rezone two parcels of land in Olds – one for housing and one for industrial development.

Both public hearings are slated to be held at 1 p.m. in town council chambers that day.

The land use bylaw amendment for housing would rezone a portion of the Vistas area structure plan in northwest Olds from urban reserve to R1 (low density family housing).

Another proposed land use bylaw amendment would rezone a portion of land in the far southeast edge of town to light industrial.

Municipal planner Kyle Sloan said the purpose of rezoning that southeast parcel of land is to “align with the southeast area structure plan in order to facilitate further development of that industrial area.”
