OLDS — RCMP say a 68-year-old woman who died during a collision in the No Frills parking lot was run over by her own vehicle.

RCMP public information officer Cpl. Gina Slaney provided that information by email after an inquiry by the Albertan.

The incident occurred Sept. 30 at about 5:30 p.m. The victim died at the scene.

Shortly afterward, RCMP issued a release saying that four people had witnessed the accident and tried to help the woman but left before police arrived. They were urged to come forward.

In an email to the Albertan Slaney said several witnesses did indeed do so.

“Several witnesses did come forward and were interviewed. It was determined that the deceased fell and was run over by her own car; a very unfortunate accident,” Slaney wrote.
