OLDS — If all goes according to plan, repairs to the splash park could be completed in the next week or two, according to Scott Chant, the town’s director of operations.
Work on those repairs began in early June.
The facility, located in Centennial Park, was closed in late June last year because its holding tank had collapsed and town officials had concluded that “extensive repairs” including a new holding tank would be needed to fix it.
Chant gave an update on the park during town council’s June 1 policies and priorities meeting.
He said the new tank is “in place” and officials were just waiting for all the pipes to be hooked up and repairs made to concrete.
“So it’s coming along very nicely. Hopefully in the next week or so we’ll start to see that tested and making sure it’s operational,” Chant said.
“Perfect,” deputy mayor Debbie Bennett said.
The splash park officially opened in July 2015.
It was closed in April 2016 while Park N Play, the company that built it, re-poured the concrete pad to fix drainage issues.
