BOWDEN -- Robb Stuart will serve as Bowden's mayor for another four years.

According to unofficial results, Stuart beat former town councillor Earl Wilson for the post during Monday night's civic election, garnering 219 votes to Wilson's 99. There were two spoiled ballots.

As was reported earlier, there's no race for Bowden council. Six people let their names stand. Because there are six seats on council, they're all acclaimed.

Those councillors are: incumbents Sandy Gamble, Paul Webb and Wayne Milaney, along with newcomers Carol Pion, Kerry Kelm and Randy Brown.

James Mason, the town's chief administrative officer, anticipates official election results will be made public this Friday.

Going into this election, Stuart had served 13 years on town council, serving as a councillor for six years before first being elected mayor in 2010. Wilson had served on council for six years.

"I'm happy. I put a lot of effort in this time and I'm glad the challenger made me step up to the plate more," Stuart said in an interview. "It's been pretty hectic the last while. I'm just kind of winding down now."

Stuart says it's too early to say what his first priority with the new council will be.

He has some general ideas though.

"Try to get business in Bowden. We had a big rash of crime here in the last couple of nights again," he said.

"(It's) business as usual ñ it's just trying to come up with solutions to the problems that have been ongoing for the last four years.

"Hopefully we'll get new strategies and with the new businesses on the outskirts of town (and) we'll move ahead."
