"A small SUV lost control on extremely icy road surface caused by the combination of warmer temperatures mixed with a sudden increase in cold wind and blowing snow," fire Chief Justin Andrew says.

Traffic eastbound was temporarily rerouted to provide safer conditions for emergency responders, due to the poor conditions encountered.

Andrew says the matter was "resolved" within an hour and normal traffic flow resumed.
