The Inspire Dance Studio and Baton Club's trip to the Twirl Mania International Championships at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida really paid off.

Three of the club's teams placed first in their respective categories. They were: junior dance line, junior pompom and junior dance twirl. A juvenile baton dance team placed third. The club was also named top Canadian team.

Also, Palin Lentz and Cadence Witcher placed second in duet and Mayan Taylor came second in dance solo.

Jessica Holmes took third in dance solo.

In addition, Zoey Beemer and Ryleigh Beemer finished fourth in duet, as did Brianna Kilpatrick in baton solo.

Jensen Zadorozniak placed sixth in dance solo.

Alyssa Campbell and Natasha Tarrant finished in ninth place in duet and Cadence Witcher placed 10th in the two-baton category.

About 30 people made the trip. The competition was held Feb 15-18. They were competing with up to five groups in a category.

In addition to Canada, countries represented included Japan, Australia, and the United States (including Puerto Rico).

The purpose of the journey was to give students and club members a chance to measure their skills and abilities against others as well as celebrate the facility’s fifth anniversary.

"We had a really great time," says Jenna Jemieff, owner of Inspire Dance Studio and Baton Club. "We were really excited about the results."

It's the first time Jemieff has taken so many students to Twirlmania. She competed there previously herself. And a couple of years ago she took a student down there to compete.

"We were really pleased with our result. We just wanted to go in doing our personal best, so for us to go home with a couple of trophies was really exciting," Jemieff says.
