A man facing 14 charges in connection with a suspicious vehicle at the Olds-Didsbury Airport was scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 10.
Derrik Sagmoen, 36, of Calgary was arrested by Olds RCMP after police received a tip Jan. 6 from a local resident who was suspicious about a truck with a holiday trailer parked at the airport.
Police went to the trailer, found Sagmoen inside and questioned him. When asked for his name, police say Sagmoen gave them a name that turned out to be false.
He was arrested after police found out there were warrants out for his arrest.
They also discovered the truck had a stolen licence plate on it and that Sagmoen was alleged to have breached several conditions of his release from custody on other matters.
As a result of this incident, Sagmoen faces the following charges:
- Fraudulently impersonating another person with intent.
- Possession of stolen property under $5,000.
- Six counts of failing to comply with a condition of recognizance.
- Two counts of failing to obey a probation order.
- Parking a trailer on private property without a licence plate.
- Having a driver's licence issued to someone else.
- Displaying an improperly authorized licence plate.
- Having an uninsured motor vehicle on a highway.
Sagmoen was brought before a justice of the peace for a judicial interim release hearing and was remanded in custody to appear in Calgary provincial court on Jan. 10.
