A 17-year-old Olds youth is facing eight charges after he and two individuals were stopped by police early in the morning of Oct. 7.

Olds RCMP Cpl. Michael Black says the youth was arrested after RCMP officers on patrol came across three people around a "suspicious vehicle" in the 5200 block of 42nd St. Oct. 7 at about 4:20 a.m.

"Members stopped and were able to determine that the vehicle was stolen," Black says.

The youth has been charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, three breach of conditions, possession of break and enter instruments, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He can't be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

No charges were laid against the other two people.

"They were adults, but no charges laid in relation to (this incident)," Black says. "They were just kind of around the area. We just don't have enough evidence to lay charges against the other guys."
