OLDS — Three people from Olds have been arrested on drug charges.

All were arrested after RCMP executed a search warrant at a home near 51st St. and 61st Ave. in Olds April 30, at about 5:30 p.m.

“Police had received information of possible drug dealing at the residence and further investigation led to the authorization of the warrant,” Staff Sgt. Jim MacDonald wrote in an email.

Two men and one woman were arrested at the location. Their names were not released because their charges had not yet been sworn at the time of MacDonald's email.

Among the items seized were several cellphones, weapons and a variety of suspected drugs including what is believed to be methamphetamine.

A 32-year-old woman and a 39-year old man were charged with having possession of a controlled substance.

They were released on an undertaking to appear in in provincial court in Didsbury on Oct. 5.

The third accused, Charles Benson Schmidt 45, of Olds, faces several new charges after having been arrested on drug charges back in February.

His new charges are one count of possession of a controlled substance and three counts of failing to abide by his previous release order conditions.

He was held in custody for a judicial hearing and was later released on a $1,000 no cash deposit to appear in court in Didsbury on July 13.

Schmidt had been arrested after a search warrant executed by Olds RCMP at the same home on Feb. 13.

He still faces 17 charges as a result of that arrest, including being in possession of controlled substances, weapons and stolen property.

RCMP are continuing to investigate and are asking the public to come forward with any information related to these incidents.
