OLDS - Golfers hit the links at the Olds Golf Club and Bowden Hi-Way Golf Course Thursday on their opening day of the 2024 season.
The openings were one day after Carstairs Community Golf Club's opening but at least a week before Sundre area courses plan to open.
Didsbury Golf Club opens Friday, April 25. Innisfail Golf Club's course opens on April 27.
Renovations are underway at the Olds Golf Course to the driving range and practice facility. A practice bunker and chipping green are being added, the tee deck is being lengthened and mats are being added for those early/late season days. Four new target greens are also being added to the range to help simulate more realistic course conditions.
Meanwhile, the club's annual general meeting was held Wednesday and the club's semi-annual fundraiser and auction was held April 12. The event, which included a performance by Devin Cooper, raised over $15,000 for the junior program and future capital projects.
