The Town of Olds and Mountain View County (MVC) have hammered out an agreement to share recreational facilities in the town.

The deal, ratified by town council and MVC council, covers the library, aquatic centre, arena and curling rink, soccer pitches and baseball diamonds, as well as minor sports facilities.

In late December 2015, the two municipalities created the Inter-Municipal Cooperation Committee (ICC), to work out the sharing of facilities.

The committee works cooperatively to ensure growth management, planning, programs and services are delivered efficiently and economically to all residents.

This deal is the result of that work. The two parties agree to share access to facilities. The county agrees to "make annual financial contributions" to help cover operating and maintenance costs for the facilities.

A town news release says the deal "demonstrates the commitment of the Town of Olds and Mountain View County to work collaboratively to plan for the future and provide facilities and services to the benefit of residents of both municipalities."

The agreement can be found on the Town of Olds website (www.olds.ca) or the Mountain View County website (www.mountainviewcounty.com).
