OLDS — The municipality's administration office in Olds is expected to reopen on June 22 and staff are expected to start coming back in there a few days ahead of time — on June 18.
Several protocols and conditions will be in place to keep staff and the public safe.
For example, expect a limit on the number of people who can be in the lobby at any one time.
In all meeting rooms, people will be required to follow social distancing rules.
In addition, anyone wishing to meet with planning and development staff will have to make appointments in order to do so.
Town officials are encouraging residents and others to conduct business with them online wherever possible.
More details are expected in the next two weeks.
During council’s June 8 meeting, Emergency Operations Centre director Brian Powell said the move back into the administration building is being done in accordance with Alberta Health Services.
“We want to ensure that we have no contra-indications or contradictions to what we’re doing with what the mindset is of the province regarding facility opening,” he said.
In fact, Powell said Olds is viewed as an example for others.
“We’re viewed a little bit as the trendsetters and the leaders in the community with regards to having this done right and opened accordingly,” he said.
