Traffic along the QEII at Hwy. 27 was slowed to a crawl for several hours on Oct. 6 after a 48-ft. tractor-trailer hauling wood chips tipped over at around 11:30 a.m. as it was merging onto the southbound lanes of the four-lane highway.

Const. Norm Therrien of the RCMP Integrated Traffic Unit, said the tractor-trailer slid sideways across the two southbound lanes and ran into the guardrails. He said no one was injured as a result of the mishap. But he said it took a long time for a heavy-duty tow truck to arrive at the scene and remove the tractor-trailer from the highway. Therrien said all traffic was shut down for 20 minutes and the southbound lanes were reduced to one for the next four hours.
