Charges are expected to be laid shortly after police arrested two men who allegedly broke into the FortisAlberta yard in Olds.

A witness contacted Olds RCMP at about 3:30 a.m. on Feb. 21, saying a break-in was in progress at the FortisAlberta yard on 49th Avenue in Olds.

"The witness saw a suspicious vehicle near the property, then witnessed two males cut through the fence and enter into the Fortis yard," an RCMP news release says.

"Olds RCMP responded immediately and arrested a male suspect exiting the yard.

"RCMP Police Dog Services responded to assist in tracking the second suspect who fled on foot from police, and was apprehended about two hours later near Olds College."

Police say they found copper wire as well as a stolen licence plate at the suspect vehicle.

As of Feb. 21, two men, ages 39 and 43 were in police in custody awaiting a Judicial Interim Release Hearing.

Further updates are expected, once charges against the two suspects have been sworn.
