OLDS — The cause of a fire that broke out at a home at 5313 57 Avenue in Olds Monday afternoon is not believed to be suspicious, fire officials say.
The Olds Fire Department is working with the homeowners and an insurance company to determine the cause.
Firefighters were alerted to the blaze at 12:14 p.m. on Feb. 12 by a passerby who called 911.
The fire department responded with two engines, an aerial ladder truck, and command unit. Twelve firefighters were on-scene managing the fire.
The two-storey house was found to “contain a ventilation-limited fire that broke out through the front of the home,” fire department officials said in a news release issued Monday.
“Crews knocked down the fire and made quick entry to extinguish the forward progress of the fire,” the news release said. “Smoke and heat damage occurred throughout the structure.”
No firefighters were injured during the incident.
As of late Monday, no damage estimate had been made. However, it will be “extensive, with contents and structure being affected,” the release said.
A portion of 57th Ave. was closed while the fire department responded.
