Watch out for suspects staking out rural farm properties, Olds RCMP Cpl. Courtney Harding says.

"This last week we have had a few reports of suspicious vehicles being parked near rural residences or oil lease sites appearing to 'scout' out rural farm properties," Harding said in an email to the Albertan on Jan. 9.

"A couple thefts from fuel tanks on farms have occurred with very little suspect information to proceed with an investigation on."

Harding highlighted a vehicle stolen from a farm west of Olds last month. It's a Renn RFM350 Feed Wagon, valued at about $18,000.

Police received a report of that theft on Dec. 17.

"RCMP would like to request the assistance of rural homeowners to be on the lookout for a piece of farm equipment matching this feed wagon that may be parked or abandoned near their property and report to RCMP if it seems out of the ordinary," Harding wrote.
