Westview Co-op has received an Excellence in Brand Development award from Federated Co-operatives Ltd. (FCL), Co-op's parent organization.

Westview was chosen for that award from among 170 Co-ops across Western Canada.

It was presented March 4 during FCL's annual general meeting in Saskatoon.

Co-op staff and officials refer to customers as "guests."

Westview Co-op general manager Dennis Laing says they won the award because of their overall shopping experience and the way they treat their guests.

"The Co-op brand, so to speak, is more than just Westview Co-op. It's what guest experience do people expect when they see that shield across Western Canada?

"Part of that is an exceptional level of guest service, making people feel at home, treating them like guests, thinking and acting like a host," Laing said during an interview with the Albertan.

More details will be provided in an upcoming edition of the Albertan.
