The Wild Rose Medical Centre (WRMC) has received the Patient’s Medical Home Outstanding Family Practice award from the Alberta College of Family Physicians (ACFP).

The award is given to recognize excellence and leadership in patient and community care while exhibiting the principles of the Patients Medical Home. It was presented during a ceremony at the facility on Jan. 25.

Dr. Steven Turner, the clinic's founder and its current director, accepted the award and was honoured to receive it.

“It’s just a really great recognition of all the work we’ve done over the last seven or eight years to really leverage the resources that our network brings to the community,” Turner said.

“The WRMC has an outstanding staff team that has worked very hard to become a very outstanding practice that services the Olds community very well and the surrounding areas,” said Terri Potter, executive director of the ACFP as she presented the award.

The presentation took place in the waiting room of the clinic while staff continued to take in patients and conduct other everyday tasks. Cakes and drinks were provided as well.

“I appreciate the recognition that this represents and it certainly represents a lot of the hard work that we’ve had to undergo,” said Turner. “We really appreciate the support we’ve received from our primary care network and the resources they’ve brought.”
