An Olds youth has received a second Duke of Edinburgh award.

Zachery Taylor, 14, a member of the 185 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron, was presented with the Duke of Edinburgh's international silver award during a ceremony at Government House.

The award was presented by Lt.-Gov. Lois Mitchell and Al-Karim Khimii, division president Nov. 17.

Earlier this year, Taylor received the Duke of Edinburgh bronze award.

The award goes to recipients who achieve goals in areas like volunteering in the community, fitness, developing skills or personal interests, as well as planning for and completing an adventurous journey. The idea is to develop confident, responsible citizens.

According to a description on the award website, bronze medals go to participants who are over 14 years of age, silver to those over 15, and gold to those over 16 (students in that age group must also complete a residential project).
