The Mountain View Food Bank (MVFB) is still seeing a flood of clients, four years after the price of oil tanked. MVFB volunteers say every Tuesday when the food bank is open, it serves between 50 and 60 people.

Olds RCMP are investigating a theft from the Rexall pharmacy in Olds. The robbery occurred on Sept. 10. Police say three males entered the pharmacy and picked up two Oral B electric toothbrushes as well as several bottles of perfume.

With the help of shoppers and the community at large, the Olds Walmart store raised nearly $23,000 for the Mountain View Food Bank (MVFB). That announcement was made last week at the food bank in Olds.

Olds council has voted to restrict the public consumption of recreational cannabis. Smoking and vaping of cannabis in public areas is restricted and the penalties for breaking this law will be similar to that of cigarette smoking laws.

Olds town council has decided how applications for cannabis retail stores will be handled and has relaxed the rules on where they can be located.

The United Farmers of Alberta Co-operative Limited (UFA) has committed $500,000 to Olds College. The school will receive the money over a five-year period.

BY Meghan Alton Holy Trinity Catholic School math lead teacher Monica Andrew has won a provincial math award. She received the Alberta Mathematics Educator Award through the Alberta Math Council.

BOWDEN - Bowden won't have a bylaw regulating the consumption of cannabis and tobacco in the community for at least another week. As a result, the town remains without any bylaw regulating tobacco consumption in town, let alone marijuana consumption.

The pumpkin smash was a success, despite the cold weather, says Uptowne Olds coordinator Dalaura Glubrecht, who helped organize the event. The inaugural pumpkin smash was held Oct. 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot behind Sim's Furniture.

On Oct. 27, for the second year in a row, Halloween Howl, the annual shopping promotion in Uptowne Olds, will have a Harry Potter theme.
