Environment Canada has issued winter storm warnings for Ottawa and other parts of eastern Ontario with heavy snow in the forecast.
The agency says starting Thursday night the area could see between 15 and 25 centimetres of snow, heavy at times, tapering off into Friday.
Environment Canada is advising people in the regions under winter storm warnings to consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
The fickle weather southern Ontario has seen so far this winter season is set to continue, with Hamilton, Niagara, and Kingston among areas forecasted to see up to 25 millimetres of rain Thursday.
Many parts of southwestern Ontario were under a fog advisory Thursday afternoon with Environment Canada warning of near zero visibility in dense fog.
In Toronto, those fog patches were expected to give way to showers or drizzle in the evening and a few flurries Friday as the temperature drops.
