Re: “Miracle on the Plains,” page 9, Sept. 4 Gazette

Mr. Johnnie Bachusky (the article’s author), I received this morning another copy of your story now printed in the Mountain View Gazette. Good Heavens, your article seems to appear everywhere.  The main reason is of course that it is well written and the facts are correct, and you delivered the most important message.  Gavin Bates and his sons are honouring Frankie Bates by creating an annual bursary to two students, one in Innisfail and one in Cochrane. This will enable two young people each year to obtain training to be a lifeguard. There is no question that this will save lives. It will save lives. I cannot think of a more fitting way to remember Frankie. I wish to thank you for this well-written news story and I am sure you are just as pleased as I am about this program.
