Peace Lutheran Church congregation is excited to be presenting its 7th Annual Fashion Show and Fun-raiser at the Innisfail Royal Canadian Legion Branch #104 on Friday, Oct 19.
Our theme this year is Caring and Sharing. The event is a fun-filled evening consisting of a fashion show and silent auction. Raffle tickets are available for several items, including a handmade quilt by Robbie Olson. Door prizes are drawn throughout the night and homemade baking is available.
Marilyn Maldaner has organized the fashion show for seven years, preparing many months in advance. More than 80 models from our community, consisting of children, teens, ladies and men will once again be taking part in this year’s fashion fun-raiser.
These models are local people from all walks of life. They will be wearing apparel supplied by nine local Innisfail businesses and home sales entrepreneurs. This gives the audience an opportunity to see what is available and shop locally.
Unique, interesting silent auction items are generously donated. Throughout the evening people can bid on the items such as children’s activities, books, purses, jewelry, kitchen items, etc. There is something for everyone!
Peace Lutheran Church’s first fashion show fun-raiser was held in 2012 at the legion. It was met with a great, sold-out response from our community. For the past six years, this event has given donations to these important local service groups: Innisfail & Area Food Bank, Innisfail Big Brothers and Big Sisters and the Boys & Girls Club/Side Door Program, Innisfail & District Health Centre Auxiliary, Welcoming Communities-Innisfail, and the Innisfail Christmas Bureau. For this year’s Caring and Sharing fashion show fun-raiser a donation will be given to Innisfail & District Victim Services, a very worthy cause.
The table centrepieces are artistically created by Trudy Veldkamp and Shelby Veldkamp, and local artists/students have designed the posters and program cover pages.
The evening before each yearly fashion fun-raiser the fellowship area is a bustle of activity filled with laughter, fellowship and fun as items and baking are organized and prepared.
These fashion show fun-raisers have provided an opportunity for a lovely evening reconnecting with friends and developing new friendships.
The legion doors will be open at 6 p.m. with the fashion show beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets will be available for $10 by contacting Marilyn Maldaner at 403-227-3877. Thank you to our Innisfail community for your ongoing support.
