Cheri Funke is seeking re-election as a councillor and can be reached at 403-638-8426.
I was born in Olds and was raised in Sundre. In 1998, I left to go to Mount Royal College to major in Accounting. In Calgary I met
and married my husband and we welcomed our first child in 2002. Shortly after in 2003 my family and I returned to Sundre to stay.
In 2007, our daughter was born and our family was complete. Then in 2012 there was an opening in council and with the support
of my family and friends I decided to run and by acclamation I joined our town council.
I only got to be involved for 11 months, and I love it! Besides feeling an obligation to the community and to myself, spending all those
last months learning all there is to know about the town of Sundre, I feel like I haven't accomplished all that I can.
I don't make promises I can't keep and I don't tell people what they want to hear just because I know that's what they want. So I would advise you to vote for me because you trust me, vote for me because you think I will do my best, and lastly vote for me because you believe that I can be your voice in council.
Some people think that since I joined the council because of the uproar over the parks last year, that it is my only focus, but that is
only a piece of why I am here now. Through these last months I have seen so much more in our community from our desperate need
for seniors housing, the over all safety and condition of our downtown corridor, the lack of economic development and working on flood mitigation. We have gotten the ball rolling on a lot of these things but I would like to follow through with them as well. I believe
that all the 'issues' that our town faces both current and future are important.
