On behalf of the Citizens for Innisfail group I would like to thank those of you that have submitted your concerns, comments and support using our new email address at [email protected]

Your emails create an awareness of concerns important to you as a member of our community and guide us to help make Innisfail a community to be proud of.

We have noted small, but important actions that have occurred with town council and administration such as: hiring a headhunting firm to search for a new chief administrative officer (CAO), along with a statement from council that the current CAO would not be involved in the process; updating the town's website to make it more user friendly, which is a "work in progress"; and a Workplace Harassment and Anti-violence policy for employees, (drafted in 2012) that can now be accessed on the town's website, though the extent of how or if this policy or others have been followed through with is uncertain.

We hope to soon see the town's website offer all policies and bylaws for public viewing in keeping with the concepts of openness and transparency. Currently, the bylaws available are few in number compared to the list of those that exist.

We also hope to soon see progress made on creating a Progressive Discipline policy and an Exit Interview policy, as council stated they would in a letter to us and at the Jan. 9, 2017 council meeting.

Progress has been made. We hope to see more.
