This week, Express reporter Erin Fawcett has asked Councillor Gail Parks questions regarding what the City's priorities are and how the City can accomplish them.
"I think the development of the Riverlands and railyards is a top priority for the City," said Parks. "I think finishing Queen's Business Park is a priority because it provides us with new industrial land."
She added the North Highway Connector is also top of mind for some City councillors.
"I think the need to start developing in the north is a priority for some," said Parks. "Some councillors make very good arguments about why we should start developing the north."
She added she would like to see renovations done to the current council chambers.
"I know I don't like sitting with my back to the public," said Parks. "And I would like to see their faces. I think there is something that could be done."
She added looking at adding high end housing downtown is also a priority.
"We've also done the pilot project on the LED (Light-Emitting Diode). It was successful and I think now we can go forward with that," said Parks.
She added one of the priorities that the City has done that has been well received is the downtown ambassador program.
"We've put a friendly face on downtown and I think the merchants and the public appreciates that," said Parks.
"It's going to take longer than first anticipated due to the downturn in the economy," said Parks.
She added she would like to see City council governed in some way when it comes to community priorities and service levels.
"I would actually like to see a review of all service levels," said Parks. "I think that will help determine priorities that they residents would like to see.
"The City has their set of priorities and the residents have their set of priorities. I don't know what the residents' priorities are but I would like to."
