Council told to listen ahead of election year

I am writing this letter to inform council and what the Town of Innisfail will experience for putting a skateboard park where the town decided it should go.

I am writing this letter to inform council and what the Town of Innisfail will experience for putting a skateboard park where the town decided it should go.

I lived in Innisfail for three years, and yes, I learned to pitch horseshoes in the well-kept pits in town while I enjoyed the area by going in the little park located by the pits. Families would come to have a picnic and have wonderful ice cream.

This green space is the poorest place for any skateboard park.

I now live in Olds and yes, they put the skatepark next to the horseshoe pits. In my opinion, the skateboard park has had problems with loud music and with people partying. In my opinion, the noise factor is bad

Our horseshoe pits are idle because of the racket. As any horseshoe player will tell you, a horseshoe player needs quiet so they can focus on making ringers.

In Innisfail you have many champion horseshoe players who have gone to provincials and brought back medals and awards.

Now, why in the heck is council making darn sure that they will lose revenue from the horseshoe tournaments? Seniors and patients will not be getting any rest in the hospital.

Families and nurses will not have a place to eat lunch and play with families where it is safe.

If council needs a prime location for the skateboard park, why don't they locate it in the space north or northwest of the curling rink away from residential properties?

Leave the green space alone and let the taxpayers have a place to picnic and enjoy a place to rest in Innisfail.

Next year is an election year and I think council should not be making the people of Innisfail angry by not listening to their concerns.

Change your location and leave the area alone so everyone can enjoy it.
