Getting tired of harassment again this winter.
The emergency services have been at the west end of Highway 27 in Olds holding up traffic for donations.
We have no problem with them collecting funds for a worthy cause.
But today, even though the newspaper says the right-hand lanes would be open for through traffic, that was not the case in the morning.
We all have causes we donate to throughout the year.
We should be allowed the option to donate where we wish.
But today, they'd blocked both lanes westbound and then eastbound.
My husband noticed people using service roads to avoid this bottleneck.
He was stopped in the right-hand lane going east and asked to donate.
When he declined, the individual punched his truck as he passed by.
Not wanting to cause a confrontation, my husband continued on.
Then, as he was returning to go west, the right-hand lane was blocked with pylons, forcing everyone to go into the left lane.
This is becoming ridiculous.
We should not have to be intimidated to make donations to anyone.
We knew they would be there, as the paper informs everyone ahead of time.
But, this is the first time that it became a nuisance.
Blocking traffic is hazardous in the first place.
But then to force people to stop against their will for donations is unacceptable.
