Dog park a disgrace

To the Editor,

I am writing in regards to the beautiful dog park that the town has provided so graciously. My husband and I walked there on a warm winter day. The size was amazing! The picnic tables, toys and poop bags, although empty, were awesome. But there are some problems that disgusted me. On the walk through the children's park I could count more than 50 piles of large dog feces. This has to be the most disrespectful thing a pet owner could do. There is no excuse for it. There are garbage cans all along the path, or are people too embarrassed to stoop and scoop? I would find it more embarrassing to not pick it up. Then in the dog park there is more feces. The sign with all rules and regulations is at the far end of the park, a long way away from the entrance. That wasn't thought out very well. People need to be more respectful of things that are shared. I bet they would be a little pissed if they stepped in it; I know I would be. I am ashamed that there are people out there that do this. I have two small dogs and am proud to say that I am a responsible pet own. Clean up after your animal or don't use the facilities. It is as easy as that. Because when it gets warmer out the smell is going to be overbearing. I feel sorry for the families that take their children to the playground. How is the town going to enforce the rules? They are going to have to start taking names of people that ignore the rules. I will say something to you if I see you not picking up, so watch out, I'm watching you.

Disgusted,

Barbara Tuttle, Innisfail
