Kenney's not the man to unite the right

Judging from the article in the Feb. 14 Albertan, one can only say it's rather disturbing that the Alberta Progressive Conservative party has learned nothing from its time behind the barn.

Albertans were sick and tired of being taken for granted and spoken down to by condescending politicians who believed they were God's gift to Albertans.

Former premier Alison Redford's arrogance and alleged corruption were followed by Jim Prentice, a man who didn't even have the good grace to hang around till next morning after the party was defeated.

Now, they want us to believe that Progressive Conservative party leadership candidate Jason Kenney, another prophet from above, will right all and there will be peace and prosperity in the land. The Conservatives have fallen a long way from the days of former premiers Peter Lougheed and Ralph Klein.

The reason we have an NDP government comes down to the fact that Albertans were just plain disgusted with mainstream politicians looking out for themselves, the same scenario that brought U.S. President Donald Trump to power. Voters thought it's time to overturn the apple cart. There's no predictability of where the fruits will end up, but that's better than just carrying on.

Kenney is just another loud-mouthed rabble-rouser hoping to build on the conservative moderate vote for his own purposes; another Jim Prentice come back to rule the hicks, only the hicks won't buy the snake oil next time. Unite the Right? Kenney isn't the man and the Alberta Progressive Conservative Party is just another dinosaur fighting extinction.
