Letter: Bowden has a concerning safety issue

Reader bothered by unrestricted use of retarder brakes in residential areas
opinion

I am writing to bring to your attention a concerning issue that plagues our community here in Bowden - the unrestricted use of retarder brakes in residential areas.

I have become increasingly alarmed by the lack of regulations and signage prohibiting the use of these brakes, especially when considering that other areas in the province have implemented such measures.
Despite my efforts to address this issue, including writing letters to both the province and the town, submitting a petition, and speaking to several officials at the town office, I have seen no progress or meaningful action taken to address the problem.

Despite being directed to submit an online complaint, no tangible results have emerged.
Furthermore, I have consulted with several retired truckers who have affirmed that the use of retarder brakes in our area is unnecessary, adding urgency to my concern.

I believe that this issue not only poses a safety risk to our residents but also significantly disrupts the peace and quality of life in our neighbourhood.
