It's reassuring to see that Innisfail council has the common sense to see the harm that councillor Glen Carritt has done recently.
It seems to me Mr. Carritt has been at the forefront of many ultra-right movements over the years, none of which served any productive purpose.
His latest unrepentant comment was particularly shocking. Saying the Black Lives Matter movement is a Marxist organization is beyond ignorant. What a totally divisive and blatant lie.
And I suppose the SPCA are communists? Perhaps the food bank is poisoning our children and selling them to McDonalds.
That is the type of idiocy we have been hearing from south of the border for the last four years. Either Mr. Carritt does not know what Marxism is or what the BLM movement is about, or he doesn't care and slanders anything he dislikes.
I'd gladly take a knee in support of ending the murder of Black people than kneel in front of the altar of stupidity as Mr. Carritt has done.
Heaven forbid he gets any support in his bid to rule Innisfail as a narrow-minded mayor.
