Letter: Is Smith looking to make a new provincial holiday?

We all love long weekends and many of us could well imagine the days we would designate as holidays if we were given the power.

I am wondering if that’s what our new premier is working towards when she claims that the non-vaccinated have been the most discriminated group that she has witnessed in her lifetime.

Is she looking to make a new provincial holiday so we can all spend the day thinking about the suffering of those that chose to not get the vaccine for COVID?

Sounds like someone from our town that felt the same way about a year ago.

OK you self-centred conspiracy theorists try being gay, Black, Jewish, Native, or disabled for a week then try repeating the words of our new “leader."

If she’s such a non-believer how did she manage to go to America when restrictions were on? Did she secretly get the vaccine?

It seems as though the party that preaches fiscal responsibility has decided that naming a lot of her sitting members to positions in the cabinet was a good way to give them raises before they did any work -- 37 cabinet ministers (almost half of UCP MLAs) compared to 12 for those damn spend-thrift NDP under Rachel.

MLAs get paid about $120,000 per year but cabinet ministers get about 50 per cent more, or more than $2 million extra for the 37 ministers. Which pot will this extra come from?

At least they will have extra cash to use on their new holiday.

Robert McNaught,
