Letter: Lines blurred between morality, perversion

Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools board trustee Monique LaGrange disqualified last month following social media post

Re: Catholic school trustee violated sanctions with interviews, board says

I guess there is only freedom of speech and expression for certain people in Canada now.

The heavy censuring and eventual dismissal of former Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools board trustee Monique LaGrange, over her social media posts, is a disgraceful, authoritarian move on the board’s part.

We are seeing this more and more in Canada where if you criticize, or even question this new belief system called gender ideology, you will be vilified.

It’s odd how LaGrange posted about the brainwashing of children and then she’s told that she must be ‘re-educated’ to think positively about an ideology that harms children.

The post had nothing to do with antisemitism or homophobia and everything to do with how harmful ideologies target impressionable and malleable children.

If LaGrange had posted a picture of young children at a school-sanctioned drag show waving ‘love is love’ flags, would the same thing have happened?

While adherents to this ideology are criticizing free speech and parental rights as far-right, young children are being taught the unscientific, sexist notions that you can be born in the wrong body and  that you can change sex.

The introduction to pronoun use in schools is the first step to disassociating a child from their sexed body and can possibly lead to a lifetime of harmful chemicals and surgeries.

I also find it laughable that school boards are always preaching about ‘safe, caring, and respectful learning environments for all students’ and yet young girls in Alberta schools are being gaslit to accepting boys and men into their private female spaces as the ‘kind’ and ‘inclusive’ thing to do.

There is nothing safe or caring about not respecting a girl’s right to female-only spaces.  His feelings matter more than your safety, dignity or respect, girls.

As more and more lines are being blurred between morality and perversion, and safeguarding and grooming, we need more women like Monique LaGrange, who won’t apologize and won’t back down, to stand up for the children of this country.
