Letter: No easy fix for gun crimes

Re: Commentary: Gun debate shows no sign of slowing

There is no legislation by any governing party that’s going to stop most gun crimes.

The guns are illegally acquired on the black market, thus unregistered or made locally from imported or smuggled in or manufactured parts.

They are the so-called ghost guns, are untraceable and none are owned by law-abiding citizens. But there is no law or level of oversight adequate to prevent that.

All these proposed laws are an attempt at feel good by the politicians so they can say, well, we tried.

And maybe make people think that they are creating a safer community and maybe get their votes. And at the price of law-abiding, gun-owning citizens and restricting their freedom of choice and function.
