Is it appropriate for grown men to sashay around in public wearing garter belts, thigh-high stockings and brightly coloured shorts? I am thinking, "No," because it might have a negative influence on our children.
The NHL might disagree. And maybe it has a point. Some hockey players look good in them, at their puck chasing festivals.
Oh, and their sticks are just magnificent, waving all around.
But I am worried that they might be influencing children to wear provocative clothing, and to flaunt their sticks in public. And to sometimes hit each other. Just so brutish.
Really, our children are our future, and constitute the most vulnerable segment of society. I think that organized hockey should be setting a better example. But as long as people continue to pay to watch arguably, flamboyant, provocatively dressed, and occasionally violent men, chasing a piece of rubber, nothing is likely to change.
Oh the humanity. I think I might cry.
