Letter: Some behaviours are unacceptable, even on Halloween night

opinion

I just wanted to write and say it was such a pleasure to see little kids dressed up in costumes and out “trick-or-treating” this year.

Granted, the baby and the two-year old kiddos probably doesn’t get to eat all that candy, but I really enjoy seeing the costumes and the smiles.

What I didn’t appreciate were the older kids who came around yelling and pounding on our door after the lights were out, looking for candy handouts.

First off, if you are older than 14 or so, you are too old for trick or treating and secondly, if you think we are going to open the door to masked “adolescents” once it’s obvious we have shut down for the night and you are pounding on it, then you are sadly mistaken.

Please be considerate, and if the lights are turned off in front of the house, it means the candy is either gone or we are in our PJ’s and not coming to the door.

We know the young people in question probably don’t read these ‘letters’ but surely the adults in their lives could mention that there are some behaviours that are unacceptable even on Halloween night.
