This letter is to our community on behalf of grateful residents at Sundre Supportive Living, our lodge in Sundre.
Since the COVID virus began many months ago, we enjoyed wonderful home baking almost weekly all winter, gifted from one of our friends. There were handmade knitted lap rugs and scarves from a Cremona group. We received many letters and drawings from school children, some from pen pals sending us their wishes.
There have been monthly deliveries of birthday cakes and cards as well as extra thoughts for flowers and gifts at Mother's Day and Father's Day from the lodge auxiliary. There have been special flower arrangements from the local flower shop and all were lovely and long lasting. As well, at Christmas we were gifted several beautiful poinsetta plants.
This spring, we had been given by Sundre 4-H many hanging baskets of lovely and colourful flowers. Also, we were given several pots of tomato plants from one of our friends.
There was a parade of 2020-21 grads. They were escorted by the local RCMP and firemen. Another parade we enjoyed was of vintage vehicles. These were really enjoyed by residents and made a fun afternoon for us all.
The staff have been great – always smiling, so patient and caring with sometimes quite grumpy residents. Their days and nights have been long and many months of wearing masks and face shields for their total shifts and at times gowned because of infection. In fact all the staff members, at this writing, are still required to wear masks.
With the long months of the virus, more staff have been needed to deal with the extra COVID cleaning and extra laundry. The dietary staff are keeping us happy with an array of lovely goodies, snacks and tasty meals.
We are a lucky lot of residents at Sundre Supportive Living lodge and we thank you all, from one of many grateful residents.
