Letter: Sundre's roundabouts draw ire

Re: Overhaul of Highway 27 through Sundre expected to start in March

I just read the article about the roundabouts coming to Sundre. I am not sure where you are getting your information from but as a person who drives through and stays in Sundre on a regular basis the temporary roundabouts were not effective in moving traffic.

Hang out on a Friday evening and watch how jammed up the traffic would get from the roundabouts. There were so many heavy trucks just driving over the circles,  there was traffic jammed up past the bridge on the east side, people didn't know how to enter the circles, and the circles were too small to be even remotely successful.

The roundabout on the west side isn't needed – how about a simple set of lights? That hasn't been tried?

Maybe something has been done -- I haven't heard of any accidents or near misses, but you might want to talk to the actual people that live in the town before you consider something a success.

The people of the town are frustrated with the decisions being made by people that think they know what works when it doesn't.
