Re: "Cremona library closed during construction," p. 2, Aug. 7 Gazette.

Your good news article on Aug. 7 about the upcoming expansion of the Cremona Library
mentioned a few of the nearby libraries available to Cremona and county residents, but
neglected two: Olds and Sundre.
Here at the Sundre Municipal Library we enjoy over 30,000 in-person library visits per year—not
counting patrons who access our catalogue and other services online. Anyone with a library
card from one of the 49 libraries in the Parkland Regional Library system may check out and
return materials at all of those libraries, as well as take advantage of online e-books, audio
books, movies, music, magazines, language learning and more—all free with your library card.
We honour library cards from anywhere in Alberta through the MeLibraries system, while our
patrons can also register to use their membership throughout the province. Library users can
even request that their library checkouts be mailed directly to their address via Canada Post, at
no cost (and those materials can be returned the same way).
We have a very busy Summer Reading Club for kids, and a wide range of other programs and
services. Libraries have evolved far beyond “just books” in recent years, and we encourage all
town and county residents to explore all that a library membership has to offer. And one more
thing: at almost all local libraries, including Sundre, those memberships are free.
