The Graduation Tea for the Baby Sitting Course was held at the Sundre Hospital and Care Centre on the evening of May 28. There were 32 youths who passed the exam following five lectures. Don Cunningham, chairman of the hospital board, handed each a certificate, after which everyone enjoyed a specially decorated cake. The course was sponsored by the Family and Community Support Service with the cooperation of the hospital, and that year was instructed by Bev Cheesmur and Rhonda Shute along with input from Petrina Schaler and Ron Morris in their special fields of CPR and fire prevention.

A public awareness event regarding child seat safety offered parents and guardians some pointers. Chief among the tips presented were to immediately replace any child safety seat that had ever been involved in a collision. "If it has been in a crash, it's garbage and should be thrown away," said Ernie Brauen, with Alberta Motor Association. The clinic was held the previous week at the Sundre Arena, where about a dozen motorists voluntarily dropped by and got the chance to have their seats inspected for defects as well as to receive guidance on proper installation.
