The Oct. 25 Olds Albertan published stories about a church conference held in Olds denouncing the LGBTQ community and evolution. It was well attended. Some in our community share that view. The message was controversial to say the least. We reported it.
Our role is to present news — controversial or otherwise — in a balanced, unbiased manner. The balance should have been presented in last week's edition. We regret this and apologize.
We do not share the views presented at the conference. That was never the intent.
We live in a country where differing views are welcome. Tolerance and respect, however, must be offered to everyone.
We strive to reflect the community we serve. Unfortunately, we only reflected the opinions of a few.
