Olds shooter Brad Semaka took the high average overall title at the June 15-17 Alberta provincial skeet championship.
Held at the Lone Pine Clays Target Club northeast of Olds, the championship saw competitors shoot in a variety of classes: 12 gauge, 20 gauge, 28 gauge, .410 bore, and doubles.
Skeet shooting sees competitors using shotguns to shoot at clay targets launched into the air from fixed stations.
Semaka won in 12 gauge with a 98 out of 100 score. George Roth of Lethbridge finished second with a 95 score.
Semaka won in 20 gauge with a 96 score. Dennis Van Megan of Calgary and George Roth tied for second with a 91 score.
Roth won in 28 gauge with a 92 score. Semaka finished second with a 90 score.
Roth won in .410 bore with a 93 score. Oscar Long of Provost finished second with a 92 score.
Double champion was Long with a 92 score. Semaka was runner-up with a 90 score.
Roth took the high overall champion title with a score of 371.
Semaka took the high average overall champion title with a 455 score.
There were a total of 15 shooters at last weekend’s provincial championships. It was sponsored by the Alberta Skeet Shooting Association.
