A cliché answer for somebody who is running again like myself is ‘there are some things that are unfinished that I would like to finish' and that's partially true but to me that's not a very good answer. What's more true for me is the same things I ran on three years ago are still very important to me and I have not seen enough of a change, such as a place where more young families are moving to, a place where the businesses are starting to grow which is causing our town to be a little more sustainable.
When my son was on a reality TV show on handyman superstar challenge, mike holme said to him ‘why should we keep you Joel' and Joel looked at him on TV live across north America his answer was ‘because you like me'. You should vote for me because you like me.
I try to make myself available whenever somebody calls me, I try to listen, I do not have any personal agendas that I'm going after. I think I'm fair and unbiased and I think those are good reasons. I am willing to listen and willing to research and do the right thing for the residents of Sundre.
The flooding situation and senior housing are both very crucial issues to me. The business of the main street is a really crucial issue. I think along with that what I feel is really important is once I got in and learned that our tax base is based on 82 per cent residential and 18 per cent commercial, the town will never be able to sustain itself or have very much growth and they will be struggling all the time when that kind of percentage is in place. So to me I think that needs to balance itself off a bit which will alleviate some of the pressure for the financial stresses of the tax base. If we want young families to move here we have to be tax rate a little lower.
