In this day and age when satisfactory customer service is hard to come by, it is time to recognize those people or businesses who really step up to the plate, and who will even go way beyond to help people who come through their doors frustrated and angry because other businesses have shut them out.
I want to recognize someone in the community who did not just blow me off or just make a quick buck but who instead was immediately willing to set a huge problem straight.
Six years ago I bought a brand new truck right off the lot, spending tens of thousands of dollars of my family's hard earned money.
However, about six months later my prized new truck broke down on our first trip on holidays because of an engine problem. The manufacturer did fix it, but only after three tries. Everything was good for the next five and half years but then came another engine breakdown but I was five months past the warranty. And just recently the motor itself blew up. The manufacturer was contacted but they wanted nothing to do with the problem.
Frustrated, I shopped around town for someone who would give me the time of day. I ended up with local auto shop mechanic Kevin Massignan, whose crew valued the challenge of fixing a problem. Kevin took it upon himself to phone the manufacturer directly and repeatedly tried to get me fair compensation for the necessary repairs. But there was never any solid feedback from the manufacturer, and Kevin came up with an alternative solution that will see me have a different type of engine from another manufacturer. I am very happy with this solution and the way Kevin handled it. He never quit, and that integrity, persistence and honesty has repeatedly impressed me for the past 18 months.
I am now hopeful to have my prized truck up and running by the end of the month. I would strongly recommend anyone who has a real mechanical problem, minor or major, or if it is in another area of need to shop around for the right business who will take that extra time to make sure things are set right. I know I found that someone in Kevin and his hard working crew.
