As a citizen of Innisfail,I am glad to hear that Innisfail is concerned about the safety of its senior citizens.
My husband and I have been living here for 17 years. We own a large dog and we are very grateful for the off leash dog park that the town has provided for us.
We all (the users of the park) make an effort to keep it clean. I am 59-years-old and I climb that hill daily along with other seniors, so that our dogs can play. We enjoy the park as much as our dogs do.
I personally have had spine surgery six weeks ago. Some of these seniors who use the park have bad knees and hips.
In the summertime it is great. In the wintertime we have a hard time. We asked the town last year if they could bring a little loader inside the park and plow us a little path around the inside of the fence. The answer we got was that they built it but they had no intentions of maintaining it. It would make it a lot easier for us seniors to walk around with our dogs, after a snowfall, if they could do that.
I noticed Monday (Nov. 4) that the playground in Centennial Park had been plowed . I have been at the dog park everyday this week and I haven't seen a single kid at the playground.
It just doesn't seem fair.
