Town officials did the right thing Christmas Day when they honoured Henry Sonnenberg for his many years of cooking and organizing Christmas dinners in Olds.
Congratulations also to the Olds Legion, the Lions Club and the many volunteers who pitched in this year to take the load off Sonnenberg as he takes a much-deserved step back.
Until he took a bit of a lesser role this year, Sonnenberg organized and cooked Christmas Day dinners for Olds residents for 28 years.
Sonnenberg's efforts, as well as those of the Lions Club members and others who assisted him all those years, epitomize the spirit of Olds -- of giving and reaching out to those who need help and understanding.
As we head into a new year, let us redouble our efforts to help those who need our assistance and friendship ñ not only during the Christmas season, but all through the year.
