Student who spoke at UN appreciates support

A few weeks ago, I embarked on a journey to New York, where I spoke at Lions Day at the United Nations about the immense gender equity gap that our world faces today.

It was an opportunity that opened many doors for me, and it also helped me to solidify my career ambitions. This chance would not have been possible if it weren't for the support I received from my wonderful community.

A few of you deserve special recognition. I want to acknowledge the Sundre Royal Purple Society; it means so much to me to have the support of those inspiring ladies. Additionally, the Sundre and District Lions Club contributed to making this all possible ó I am a Leo for life! As well, I'd like to express my appreciation to the Town of Sundre, the Sundre United Church and the Sundre Round Up ó I could not have done it without you!

The teachers and staff of River Valley School and of Sundre High School deserve special recognition as well ó they inspired and believed in me.

The Sundre High School Leo Club, which I helped to establish, has experienced so much growth and has achieved so much in the past few years. I want to commend all of the students, past and present, who have done so much community building within the club.

Mr. Ryan Beck, our teacher advisor, has been indispensable in our Leo Club's success and in getting me the opportunity to go to New York. Mr. Beck, I appreciate all that you have done in our school and community and for nominating me to go to New York. I simply cannot express that enough.

The support I received from this community has been astounding. I am beyond grateful and I could not say that enough. I could not pick a better place in the world to grow up. It takes a community to raise a child, and I will take all of your support with me in all of my future endeavours. I appreciate everything you have all done to help me realize my potential and for being the building blocks of my future.
