Although I have lived in Sundre for 16 months, it still amazes me how friendly and welcoming people are.
The other day I was in line to purchase groceries at Sobeys. There was only one till open, and it became obvious that the cashier was new at the job.
As more people got in line you could tell the cashier was stressed and trying to run the items through as quickly as she could.
A lady in line, about two people behind me, said to the cashier ìyou're doing greatî.
A comment like that goes a long way. It was so heartwarming and comforting to hear.
About a month ago I was in line purchasing groceries at a Sobeys in Calgary ñ same sort of situation. However, the man in front of me was rude to the cashier. He thought he should tell the cashier how to do his job.
Why ruin someone's day just because they aren't working to your satisfaction?
Everyone starts somewhere.
I'm sure this person wasn't 100 per cent on the ball when he started his job.
In my experience, most of the time, that is the difference between a city and a small town. In a small town like Sundre, people care for each other. It's like one big family.
And it feels good not only to receive a compliment, but also to give a compliment.
So thank you residents of Sundre, for making room for mistakes and welcoming people into your wonderful community.
